Sorry to hear the theme is not working for you. What version of WordPress are you using? It should work for versions 2.6 or later. Also, I have tested it in Firefox, IE and Chrome with no problems. Not sure what might be the issue. The sidebar widgets in the sample theme will only show up like the sample if you have no other widgets activated. So if you have activated other widgets but want the search, etc. like the sample, you'll need to add those in the widgets menu.
